What to Do After Completing the GED in South Africa
Completing the GED gives learners access to many of the same opportunities as traditional school matriculants in South Africa. From college and skills training to work readiness and bridging programmes, we help learners take the next step with confidence.
Next Steps After GED
Apply to TVET colleges or bridging programmes
GED learners can apply to many public and private TVET colleges across South Africa. These institutions offer diplomas, certificates, and bridging programmes in fields like business, technology, health, and trades. Some programmes may also prepare learners for NQF Level 5 and higher qualifications.
Find entry-level jobs or internships
Many companies recognize the GED as a valid high school qualification. Learners can pursue work experience or internships while continuing part-time study or skills development. We also support students interested in starting their own small business or freelancing.
Study short courses or practical programmes
GED graduates can explore a wide range of accredited short courses and practical skills training — from digital skills to hospitality and trades. These programmes are often flexible and designed to help students build employable, real-world abilities.
Meet extra study requirements for university
Some universities require additional qualifications alongside the GED. This may include SAT scores, bridging courses, or NQF Level 5 programmes. We guide learners through these steps and help identify the best options for their goals.
Get guidance on choosing your next step
We work with each learner and family to understand their interests, strengths, and future plans. Whether it’s further study, starting work, or something in between, we help them explore all their options with clarity.
